Football fans across the Dallas – Fort Worth metroplex know there’s no place quite like Amon G. Carter Stadium at Texas Christian University on gameday! For every home game, TCU hosts a super fun tailgating and gameday experience for fans of all ages! Whether you’re a Horned Frog alum returning to relive cherished memories or a new fan getting your first taste of Texas Christian University’s football culture, attending a TCU game with your kids is an exciting and special experience.  Here are some tips to make sure you and your little ones get the most out of all the great offerings of a TCU gameday!

  1. Kick-off the day at Frog Alley’s Kid Zone: Before the big game, begin your family’s adventure at the Kid Zone located in Frog Alley! This area offers free face painting and interactive games. Throughout Frog Alley, you’ll find other fun games, competitions, and giveaways hosted by sponsors and local businesses. There’s also a chance to get autographs from TCU players! Our girls loved meeting the indoor volleyball team – they were so sweet! Make sure to get to Frog Alley two to three hours prior to kickoff to take advantage of all the fun activities!
  2. Dance to live music in Frog Alley: One of our favorite things about Frog Alley is the concert stage featuring performances by local musicians! Our kids loved dancing while the band played everything from classic rock to country.
  3. Experience the Frog Walk: One of the standout traditions of Horned Frog football is the Frog Walk which started in 2012. During the Frog Walk, fans cheer on the football team as they exit the buses at Frog Alley, and make the walk to Amon G. Carter Stadium. This event usually happens about two hours before the game starts.
  4. Follow the parade: About one hour before kickoff, the TCU cheerleaders, Showgirls, and the Horned Frog Marching Band lead fans from Frog Alley into the stadium. The march starts at the Brown-Lupton University Union and continues to the entrance of  Amon G. Carter Stadium.
  5. Grab a bite to eat: You’ll find food trucks and a beer garden at Frog Alley in case you’ve worked up an appetite! And the tailgating scene surrounding Frog Alley is incredible! The smells alone are worth the trip. Of course you can also grab some great food from the concessions once inside the stadium.
  6. Run with the Bleacher Creatures: This might have been the highlight of our day! TCU fans aged 12 and under are encouraged to join the Bleacher Creatures in running the length of the field before kickoff is a fun and memorable experience. Kids even get a free jersey for participating!
  7. Catch the pregame show: The Pregame Show at TCU can’t be missed! You’ll see a blend of music, dance, and fireworks as the Horned Frogs enter the field.
  8. Say hi to SuperFrog: No TCU game day is complete without meeting the university’s beloved mascot, SuperFrog. A high five or a quick photo with this icon will surely be a cherished memory for the kids.
  9. Watch the halftime show: The halftime show is an amazing showcase of the Horned Frog Marching Band’s talent! From stunning choreographies from the dance teams to captivating music, you won’t want to miss it.
  10. Cheer for the Frogs: Of course the most important part of the TCU gameday experience is cheering the Horned Frogs to victory! We love that the stadium celebrates each TCU score with fireworks!

A few additional tips for families attending the game: make sure to buy game tickets and parking passes in advance as TCU football games are very popular! And given the dynamic nature of college football, always keep an eye on the schedule as kickoff times might not be announced until the week of the game.
