In Dallas, Christmas season starts in November! Here are 11 Christmas events in the DFW area to get you in the holiday spirit.

  1. Holiday at the Arboretum – One of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season! The Christmas Village and 12 Days of Christmas displays make this event so special. Though it’s still fun and beautiful during the daytime, I highly recommend visiting at night. The garden comes alive with 1,000,000 lights and the new Dazzling Musical Tree. Event runs from November 10 – December 31. Admission prices range from $10-$35.
  2. The Trains at NorthPark – Don’t miss out on this holiday attraction benefiting Ronald McDonald House of Dallas! With over 1,600 ft of tracks, watch the trains travel from the fall foliage in New England all the way to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. You’ll see other cities and destinations along the trains’ journey across America. Exhibit runs from November 13, 2021 to January 2, 2022. Admission prices range from $5-$10.
  3. Cowboys Christmas Extravaganza at The Star – This free 20-minute show at Tostitos Championship Plaza brings a perfect mix of game day excitement and Christmas cheer. The holiday performance includes appearances by Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue Dancers and Drumline, Cowboys Rookie Squad, mascot Rowdy, Santa Clause. You’ll also find guest appearances from Dallas Cowboys Football heroes like Jerry Jones and Jason Witten. The show runs every Friday and Saturday evening at 6pm from Nov. 19 through Dec. 18. Admission is free.
  4. Frisco Christmas in the Square – Experience the largest choreographed holiday lights and music show in North Texas at the historic Frisco Square! In addition to the light show, you’ll also find ice skating and a tree lot. Make sure to stop by on opening weekend, November 19-21, for even more fun like visits with Santa, horse carriage rides, and a holiday carnival. Event runs from November 19 – January 2. Admission to the light show is free, while there is a charge for other activities.
  5. Snowday and Santaland –  Snowday is an immersive Christmas experience of 20+ rooms  and hundreds of surprises. You’ll find plenty of unique, instagrammable photo opps. While there, check out Santaland where your child can have a personalized visit with Santa. Event runs November 19 – December 24. Tickets start at $27 for adults and $8 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and under get in free.
  6. City of University Park’s Tree Lighting at Snider Plaza – Get in the Christmas spirit at this family event featuring music, bounce houses, and photos with Santa. Parents will enjoy the beer garden and local food vendors. Free parking available at the SMU Law School Garage. 
  7. Grapevine Annual Carol of Lights – Head to the Christmas Capital of Texas to bring in the season with the ultimate street lighting event! Begin the afternoon with family-friendly fun and food from local vendors, then catch the show featuring live performances, millions of lights and even fireworks. Event is on November 22 from 4-7pm. Enjoy free admission or $5 reserved seating.
  8. Enchant Christmas – Fair Park will come alive with a dazzling light maze, illuminated ice skating trail, kids’ play place, and a Santa Meet and Greet. You’ll also find plenty to eat and drink as well as gifts made by local vendors at the nordic-inspired Christmas market. Event runs November 26 through January 2. Admission ranges from $20-$35 while children under 3 are free. 
  9. McKinney Tree Lighting – Come “Home for the Holidays” at the charming and historic square in Downtown McKinney! You’ll find kid-friendly activities like a ferris wheel, carousel, snow hill, Frosty’s train, petting zoo, visits with Santa, and more. Don’t miss the official tree lighting ceremony on Friday, November 26 at 6:15pm followed by live music from Mosaix. Event runs from November 26 through November 28. Admission is free while some activities require ticket purchase.
  10. Light Up Lowest Greenville – Bring the family for an evening of Christmas-themed food and drink specials, Santa visits, and the official lighting of Lowest Greenville! Event is November 28 from 4-8pm. 
  11. The Elf on the Shelf’s Magical Holiday Journey – Head to Choctaw Stadium in Arlington to help Santa’s elves find the secret ingredients for Christmas cheer! This is the show’s first year in Dallas. You’ll find dazzling scenery, a twinkling tree grove, photo opps, treats, and holiday shopping. Event runs from November 18 through January 2. Tickets range from $19.95 to $49.95 while children 2 and under get in free.
