About the M-Line Trolley

The M-Line Trolley began its service in 1983, and now provides over a half million rides per year! Its 4.6 mile network stretches as far north as West Village in Uptown, and continues as far south as the St. Paul DART station in Downtown Dallas. The fleet of beautiful, vintage streetcars provide a free, fun, and sustainable option to commute or just explore the Uptown neighborhood! Read more about the trolley’s history here

Our Favorite Way to Ride with Kids

There are 39 stops for the M-Line Trolley, but our favorite is at Klyde Warren! You’ll find this trolley stop just north of the intersection at Olive and Woodall Rogers Freeway. You’ll head north through Uptown, do a loop of almost the entire route, and  eventually head back south to Klyde Warren. Trolley stops and schedules are available on Google Maps using the public transit feature. You can even download the Dallas Trolley app to track the trolleys along the route. What to See and Do Along the Way

  • Klyde Warren Park – Enjoy a meal from one of the food trucks and burn some energy at the playground!
  • Perot Museum of Nature and Science – Located just a block from the trolley stop, explore the Perot’s 11 permanent exhibits, including the Moody Family Children’s Museum! You’ll also find special programs, films, and feature exhibits.
  • West Village – Whether you want to do some shopping or catch a movie, West Village has so much to explore!

Where to Eat and Drink Along the Way

  • Mi Cocina on the Park – Enjoy your favorite Tex Mex staples at this iconic Dallas restaurant that recently opened at Klyde Warren Park! It’s one of our favorite margaritas in town.
  • San Martin Cafe and Bakery – This restaurant is known for their delicious Guatemalan pastries and dishes!
  • Shake Shack – Famous for their amazing burgers, the uptown location has a large patio that’s perfect for families.
  • Sip Stir Coffee House – We stopped in this local, family-owned coffee shop for an afternoon pick-me-up! Bonus – it’s located right next to an ice cream shop!

Riding the Uptown trolley with kids is such a fun way to explore one of Dallas’ most vibrant neighborhoods! There are plenty of family-friendly things to do along the way, so be sure to add this activity to your itinerary soon!
