  • About: One of the best ways for nature lovers to explore Kerrville and the Guadalupe River is with a walk or bike ride along The Kerrville River Trail! Along the 6 miles of trails, you might pass ducks or deer, all while taking in the breathtaking beauty of the towering trees and river.

2. Riverside Nature Center

  • About: The Riverside Nature Center is a fun and free activity located in downtown Kerrville! Inside the visitor center you’ll find rotating exhibits and displays, a children’s learning area, and RNC’s pet snake and tarantula! There’s also a beautiful garden featuring native plants and wildflowers, a butterfly garden, native healing garden, and more.

3. Louise Hays Park

  • About: This beautiful, 64 acre park in downtown Kerrville is located right along the Guadalupe River. It has a playground, splash pad, fitness court, trails, horseshoe pits, picnic areas, a covered pavilion, and other fun activities.

4. The Ridge Marketplace

  • About: The Ridge is a magical place with a cafe, garden nursery, gift shop, and amphitheater all in one spot! We love that it’s a super kid friendly restaurant for breakfast (on select days), lunch, and dinner. You’ll also find live music and special kids’ programming on select dates. Make sure to check out the adorable chicken run and the see-saw which can seat kids or adults!

5. Kerrville Kayak and Canoe Rentals

  • About: In the summertime, nothing is better than kayaking or canoeing down the Guadalupe River in the beautiful Texas Hill Country! Kerrville Kayak and Canoe offers kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, and paddle boards to rent. Hourly and daily rentals are available at area parks including Kerrville Schreiner Park and Louise Hayes Park. This is the perfect activity for families to connect with the great outdoors!

6. Arcadia Live Theater

  • About: The Arcadia is a historic theater that dates back to 1926 when it was a silent move theater. It was recently renovated and is now a state-of-the-art theater that hosts live music and community events. You can find free events like outdoor concerts and trivia nights on certain dates. There are also paid events including concerts, movies, and children’s programming.

7. Hill Country Arts Foundation

  • About: The Hill Country Arts Foundation campus is home to an indoor and outdoor theater, art galleries, and maybe most notably, Stonehenge II. Stonehenge II is 90 percent the height and 60 percent the width of the original Stonehenge. This is one of the most visited sites in the Texas Hill Country!

8. Historic Schreiner Mansion

  • About: On Thursdays, visitors can tour the Schreiner Mansion, a historic site in downtown Kerrville. The Schreiner Mansion was built in 1879 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • About: This 517 acre municipal park offers so many opportunities to enjoy the Guadalupe River! There are 7 miles of hiking and biking trails, a playground, seasonal kayak and canoe rentals, sand volleyball courts, cabins, and so much more. This is a great spot for the nature lover to soak up the beautiful Texas Hill Country!

  • About: This 18-day folk music festival if held from late May to early June and draws more than 30,000 visitors from around the world! Attendees can also choose to camp onsite and enjoy impromptu jam sessions.

They do have restaurants onsite, but feel I recommend utilizing the cabin kitchens to make your own meals for a more budget friendly option.
